Sochi hosted a reception for champions and winners of the XI Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 and their trainers, organized by the Russian Paralympic Committee and the “Parasport” Foundation for the Support of Paralympic sports, founded by Oleg Boyko. Such meetings have become a good tradition – a similar celebration took place at the Paralympic Summer Games in Beijing 2008 and London 2012, as well as the Paralympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver.
The mission chief of the Paralympic sports delegation at the Games 2014 in Russia, Honored Coach of Russia Pavel Rozhkov, and the Olympic silver medalist, sports commentator Olga Bogoslovskaya, lead this event.
To honor the athletes, participants included Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, President of the International Paralympic Committee, Sir Philip Craven, President of the Organizing Committee of “Sochi-2014” Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, Vladimir Lukin, multiple champions and winners of the last Paralympic Games. They congratulated the athletes with a triumphant performance at the Paralympics and wished them future victories and achievements, and then presented them with commemorative souvenirs of the Paralympics.
In turn, the athletes thanked the Ministry of Sports Russia, RCC, coaches, doctors, specialists, their parents, and all those who helped them achieve such heights of athleticism at the Games.
As the president of RCC Vladimir Lukin said, “we have achieved a lot at the Paralympics, achieved unprecedented heights, gave the fans all over the world vivid emotions. But making such a statement is not the limit of our ability. Will strive forward and conquer new heights.”
